Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before heading into the Himalayas.

01

What is the best time for trekking in Manali?

The best seasons for trekking in Manali are summer and autumn. From May to June, the weather is pleasantly warm, and the trekking trails are generally clear. In September and October, the post-monsoon period offers crisp, clean air, vibrant autumn colors, and fewer crowds, making for an excellent trekking experience.

02

How difficult are the treks, and what level of fitness is required?

The treks in Manali range from easy to extremely challenging. For beginners, easier trails like the Beas Kund trek are ideal. However, for high-altitude treks like our Bhaba Pass or Kanamo Peak expeditions, a "difficult" grade is assigned. This requires excellent physical fitness, prior high-altitude trekking experience (over 4,500m), and the ability to carry a 10–15 kg backpack.

03

Is it safe to trek in the Himalayas, and what safety measures are in place?

Your safety is our number one priority. We follow stringent safety protocols including daily health checks (monitoring oxygen levels and pulse), continuous weather assessments, and regular gear inspections. All our guides are certified mountaineers with extensive training in wilderness first aid, CPR, and the management of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).

04

What type of accommodation and meals are provided?

Our treks provide accommodation in high-quality dome-shaped tents on a sharing basis. We also provide sleeping bags and carry mats. Our meals are prepared fresh and hygienically by our experienced cooks, offering a nutritious mix of Indian, Chinese, and Continental cuisine to keep you energized for the trek.

05

Do I need any permits for the treks?

Yes, for most treks in the Manali region, especially those that cross into restricted or border areas like Spiti Valley, several permits are required. We handle the entire permit process for you — included in your trek package — ensuring a hassle-free experience. You will only need to carry a government-issued photo ID (such as an Aadhaar card or Driver's License).

06

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

Our cancellation policy is structured based on how far in advance you cancel. For complete details on refund timelines and percentages, please refer to the dedicated Cancellations and Refunds Policy page on our website.

07

What documents do I need to carry?

You must bring a copy of a government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Driver's License). Additionally, a medical certificate is required — one part filled out by a certified doctor and another completed by you. You may also need to sign a declaration form for safety and liability purposes.

08

Can I rent trekking gear from you?

Yes, we understand that investing in expensive trekking equipment can be a barrier. We offer high-quality trekking gear on rent. Simply make a special request for gear rental when you book your trek with us.

09

How do I book a trek, and what is the payment process?

You can book your trek directly through our website. We require a non-refundable deposit at the time of booking to confirm your spot. The remaining amount can be paid upon your arrival in Manali before the trek departure.

10

What if I get altitude sickness (AMS)?

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a serious risk at high altitudes. Our itineraries are designed with proper acclimatization days to minimize this risk. Our guides monitor everyone daily for early signs of AMS. If any symptoms are detected, our immediate protocol is to initiate a descent to a lower altitude and, if necessary, provide oxygen from cylinders we carry before arranging an evacuation to a medical facility.
