Detailed Itinerary
This 13‑day expedition provides a balanced approach for summiting Norbu Peak, allowing for proper acclimatization and technique training. This itinerary covers the route as a stand-alone peak, but please double-check camping locations and durations with your chosen operator, as routes may vary.
Day 1: Arrival in Manali
Arrive in Manali, meet your expedition guide for a briefing, and practice rope systems in the afternoon. Overnight stay in Manali.
Day 2: Drive to Khanol & Trek to Chikka (3,350m)
Drive from Manali (~1.5 hours) to the small village of Khanol and begin your trek to the Chikka campsite (approx. 3 km, 3-4 hours).
Day 3: Chikka to Seri (3,600m)
A steady trek from Chikka to the alpine meadow of Seri (approx. 6 km, 5-6 hours).
Day 4: Seri to Chota Chandertaal Base Camp (4,480m)
A challenging day of trekking to reach the expedition's Base Camp (approx. 8 km, 7 hours), set up near the stunning, emerald‑blue Chota Chandertaal lake.
Day 5: Acclimatization Day at Base Camp
A full rest day to adjust to the high altitude. You can take short acclimatization walks and explore the beautiful surroundings.
Day 6: Move to Col Camp (5,000m)
A technical ascent to establish Camp 1 on the Duhangan Col. This is a demanding day (approx. 3 hours) and will require the use of ropes.
Day 7: Acclimatization Hike to Norbu Peak (5,226m)
A crucial acclimatization day to help you prepare for the final summit. You'll undertake a demanding hike towards Norbu Peak to get a close look at the route ahead (approx. 5 hours).
Day 8: Rest Day at Col Camp
A well‑deserved rest day at Col Camp to fully recharge and recover for the major summit push.
Day 9: Move to Summit Camp (5,300m)
Ascend to the final high camp before the summit. This is a steep, technical climb (approx. 4 hours).
Day 10: Summit Attempt & Return to Col Camp
The big day! An early morning start for the summit push. After reaching the top, you'll descend back to the Col Camp (approx. 10 hours).
Day 11: Descent to Base Camp
Descend from Col Camp all the way back to the Base Camp at Chota Chandertaal (approx. 2 hours).
Day 12: Hike to Road Head & Drive to Manali
A long final trek to the road head (approx. 17 km, 5 hours). From there, you'll drive back to Manali and check into a hotel.
Day 13: Departure from Manali
After breakfast, the expedition concludes, and you can transfer to the airport or bus stand for your onward journey.
