Mulkila is the highest peak in the Lahaul-Spiti province, towering over the arid but majestic Chandra Valley. The first ascent was completed by an Austro-British team just as WWII broke out. It is a heavily glaciated mountain that requires solid mountaineering experience and high-altitude endurance.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
Arrive at Delhi International Airport, meet our representative, and transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast)
Day 2: Delhi – Chandigarh
Morning visit to the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) for briefing and paperwork. Afternoon drive to Chandigarh (250 km, 4-5 hrs). Overnight in a Chandigarh hotel. (Meals: Breakfast).
Day 3: Chandigarh – Manali
Drive to Manali (290 km, 6-7 hrs), nestled in the Kullu Valley. Overnight at a hotel in Manali. (Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner).
Day 4: Full Day in Manali
Rest and acclimatisation day in Manali. Visit Hadimba Devi Temple, Old Manali, and Mall Road for last-minute shopping. Overnight at the hotel. (Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner).
Day 5: Manali – Darcha
Scenic drive from Manali to Darcha (150 km, approx. 5 hrs), crossing the high mountain pass of Rohtang Pass (3,980 m). Overnight in a guest house at Darcha. (Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner).
🥾 The Approach & Base Camp
Day 6: Darcha – Transit Camp
Trek from Darcha towards the base camp of Mount Mulkila (5-6 hrs). Our staff will have the camping site already set up. Overnight in trekking tents. (Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner).
Day 7: Transit Camp – Base Camp
Continue the trail to establish the Mulkila Base Camp (approx. 4,440 m) located on the moraines of the main Milang Glacier. Overnight in tents. (Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner).
⛺ High Camps & Summit Rotation
Days 8-19: Base Camp – Summit – Base Camp (12 Days)
The following 12 days are dedicated to the phased climb, load ferrying, and the final summit push:

Establishing High Camps: Your climbing team will set up 1-2 higher camps on the Milang Glacier and the approaches to the South Ridge.

Acclimatisation: Critical rest days and rotations are built into this schedule.

Summit Attempt: From the final high camp, you'll make your summit bid via Mulkila's South or West Ridge, navigating steep ice and mixed terrain.

The summit offers spectacular views of Menthosa, the entire CB Range, and the Chandra-Bhaga valleys.

After summiting, you will descend back to Base Camp.
Day 20: Base Camp – Korjok Village
Morning after breakfast, trek down from Base Camp to Korjok Village. Overnight stay in the village or in tents. (Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner).
🚐 Descent & Return
Day 21: Korjok Village – Darcha – Manali
After breakfast, drive back to Manali. Upon arrival, check into your hotel for an overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner).
Day 22: Manali – Chandigarh
Morning checkout from the hotel and drive to Chandigarh. Upon arrival, check into the hotel for an overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner).
Day 23: Chandigarh – Delhi
Morning after breakfast, proceed for Delhi, en-route visiting the IMF office for de-briefing. Overnight stay in a hotel at Delhi. (Meals: Breakfast).
Day 24: Delhi Departure
Morning after breakfast, check out from the hotel. An airport transfer will drop you at Indira Gandhi Airport for your flight home. (Meals: Breakfast).
Note: The number of climbing days and high camps may vary depending on the operator, weather, and climber acclimatisation. This schedule reflects a full-service guided expedition.

Personal Expenses: Costs for room service, laundry, telephone calls, table drinks (alcohol/soft drinks), and tips for the crew.

Climbing Equipment: Personal technical climbing gear is typically the climber's own responsibility.

Emergency Costs: Any expenses arising from delays, sickness, weather conditions, natural disasters, or unforeseen circumstances are not included. This includes liability for accidents, injury, loss of life, or loss of goods.

Rescue & Evacuation: Helicopter rescue or other evacuation costs are not included. It's crucial to have insurance that covers this.
