Shiva is one of the most prominent and rarely climbed peaks in the Pangi Valley, first summited in 1973 by a Japanese expedition. The standard route avoids the technical ED+ "Prow of Shiva" and follows the safer southern or western glacial flanks.

Accessibility: The route to Base Camp via Sach Pass is extremely narrow, winding, and prone to landslides.

Comparison to Manimahesh: Do not confuse this with Manimahesh Kailash (5,653m), which is a sacred pilgrimage peak in the same district but not climbable.

🐾 Note: The Pangi valley is home to the elusive snow leopard; sightings are rare but possible in the higher moraines.

Detailed Itinerary
This itinerary focuses on the standard (Non-Technical) southern glacier approach.
Days 1-3: Arrival & Approach (Delhi – Killar)

Day 1: Arrive Delhi. Transfer to hotel and brief the expedition crew.

Day 2: Travel to Manali (~550 km / Overnight drive).

Day 3: Drive Manali → Bairagarh → cross Sach Pass (4,420 m) → Killar (Base village).
Days 4-6: Trek to Base Camp

Day 4: Final acclimatization walk in Killar. Check permits and technical gear.

Day 5: Drive/trek to Parmar Bhatori (South face viewpoint).

Day 6: Trek to Base Camp (4,200 m) located south of Shiva, overlooking the South Glacier.
Days 7-10: Acclimatization & High Camp Establishment

Day 7-8: Acclimatization rotation. Load ferry to Camp I (4,700–4,800 m) at the glacier's edge.

Day 9: Move to Camp II (5,600 m) on the West Ridge (requires glacier traverse).

Day 10: Rest day at Camp II.
Days 11-15: Summit Push & Descent

Day 11: Summit attempt. Ascend to Camp III (6,000 m) if conditions are favourable.

Day 12: Summit Day: Start at 3 AM. Climb mixed snow/ice slopes to reach the summit of Shiva (6,142 m). Descend back to Camp II.

Day 13-14: Buffer days for bad weather or technical route adjustments.

Day 15: Full descent to Base Camp.
Days 16-20: Return to Civilization

Day 16: Trek back to Killar.

Day 17: Drive to Manali (via Sach Pass).

Day 18: Manali – Delhi (Drive or Flight).

Day 19: Delhi (Buffer for flight delays/rest).

Day 20: Debriefing and International Departure.
