About Mount Deo Tibba

Mount Deo Tibba (6001 m) lies in the Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas near Manali, Himachal Pradesh. According to Hindu beliefs, Deo Tibba is believed to be the sacred assembly site of the Gods, where the Devtas gather under the leadership of Lord Indra — the Lord of War and Weather — who presides from the nearby Mount Indrasan (6221 m).

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Delhi
Arrive at Delhi International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 2 – Delhi to Manali (via Kullu flight or Drive)
After an early breakfast, transfer to the domestic airport for your connecting flight to Kullu. Upon arrival, drive to Manali and check into your hotel. OR depart by taxi for Manali (approx. 8 hours with breaks). On arrival, check into your hotel and relax.

  • Acclimatisation Walk (2–3 hours): with flight option.
    Note: Manali, nestled in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, sits at the northern end of the Kullu Valley along the Beas River. Known as the gateway to Lahaul, Spiti, and Leh, this vibrant town is surrounded by pine forests and snow-capped peaks.

Day 3 – Manali: Orientation and Acclimatisation
After breakfast, attend a team debriefing followed by a short acclimatisation walk around Manali. In the afternoon, visit Mall Road for last-minute expedition shopping. In the evening, attend an orientation session and meet your expedition team — including the cook, helpers, guides, and horsemen. Overnight in Manali.

Day 4 – Manali to Dhundi to Bakartach Base Camp (2800 m)
After breakfast, drive for about one hour to Dhundi. Begin your hike to Bakartach Base Camp and establish camp on arrival. In the afternoon, take an acclimatisation walk and spend the evening at camp.

Day 5 – Glacier Training at Beaskund
After an early breakfast, receive training on glacier traverse, snow and ice craft, and the correct use of crampons and ropes. Hike to the Beaskund Glacier to practice techniques such as roping up, jumaring, self-arrest, and anchor building. Enjoy a packed lunch before returning to base camp in the afternoon. (Note: Depending on conditions, glacier practice may continue the following day.)

Day 6 – Return to Manali
After breakfast, depart for Manali. Check into your hotel and make final preparations for the expedition. Overnight in Manali.

Day 7 – Manali to Jagatsukh to Chikha (3200 m)

  • Drive time: 25 mins  Trek duration: 4 hours
    After breakfast, drive from Manali to Jagatsukh and onward to the end of the Allain Dhuangan Power Project. Begin your trek along a gradual ascent through pine forests beside the narrow Allan Dhuangan Nullah valley. Enjoy a packed lunch and refreshment breaks en route. Arrive at Chikha and settle into your campsite for the night.

Day 8 – Chikha to Seri (3600 m)

  • Trek duration: 5–6 hours
    Today’s trail ascends steadily through beautiful birch forests before opening onto the expansive Seri meadow. The first part of the trek winds through forest, then transitions to open alpine terrain offering panoramic views. Camp at the far end of the meadow.

Day 9 – Seri to Chota Chandertal (Moon Lake, 4200 m)

  • Trek duration: 4–5 hours
    The initial section is gentle and flat, followed by a stream crossing. From there, the route ascends through boulders and moraine to reach Chota Chandertal — a small but stunning mountain lake. Set up camp near the lake, with Deo Tibba’s magnificent presence dominating the skyline.

Day 10 – Acclimatisation at Chota Chandertal (Base Camp, 4200 m)
Spend the day acclimatising. The support team will make a load ferry to Advance Base Camp, carrying climbing gear, rations, and essential equipment, and fixing the line towards Dhuangan Col. You may take short walks around the area to aid acclimatisation and practice.

Day 11 – Base Camp to Dhuangan Col ABC (5000 m)

  • Climb duration: 6-7 hours
    Begin the climb from base camp to Dhuangan Col. The ascent involves steady uphill progress over moraine and snow. Arrive and establish camp with views of surrounding peaks.

Day 12 – Acclimatisation and Rope-Fixing
Spend the day at Dhuangan Col acclimatising. An advance team will fix ropes on the Piton Ridge in preparation for the summit attempt. Enjoy an early dinner and rest.

Day 13 – Piton Ridge to Summit Camp

  • Climb duration: 6–7 hours
    After early breakfast, begin the climb at around 5:00 a.m. Ascend via the Piton Ridge and gully, reaching Summit Camp at Indrasan Peak. Establish camp. Early night at camp.

Day 14 – Summit Attempt (6001 m)
Begin the climb at 4:00 a.m. It will take approximately 3–4 hours to reach the summit of Deo Tibba. Enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas, high-altitude lakes, and the Lahaul and Spiti valleys. After spending about 20 minutes on the summit, begin your descent to Summit Camp.

Day 15 – Reserved Day for Summit
This buffer day is reserved for a second summit attempt or weather-related delays.

Day 16 – Summit Camp to Base Camp (Chota Chandertal, 4200 m)

  • Descent time: 6-7 hours
    After breakfast, descend back to Chota Chandertal Base Camp. Overnight stay at base camp.

Day 17 – Base Camp to Chikha

  • Trek duration: 6–7 hours
    Descend from base camp to Chikha. Enjoy a well-earned rest and overnight stay at camp.

Day 18 – Chikha to Manali
After breakfast, continue your descent to the Allain Dhuangan Project site. Drive back to Manali and check into your hotel. Celebrate the successful expedition with a campfire and dinner.

Day 19 – Manali to Delhi
After breakfast, transfer to Kullu Airport for your flight to Delhi and check into your hotel. OR drive to Delhi (8–9 hours).

Day 20 – Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Delhi International Airport for your flight home.
