Tour Highlights
Kang Yatse (also spelled Kang Yatze), located at the head of the Markha Valley in Ladakh, is not a single peak but a striking massif with two distinct summits:
-
Kang Yatse 1 (Main/ Eastern Peak): 6,400 meters (20,997 ft). The higher, more technical peak. It demands advanced mountaineering skills with steep climbs, fixed ropes, and glacier travel.
-
Kang Yatse 2 (Western Peak): ~6,250 meters (~20,500 ft) (sources vary; up to 6,254m). The more accessible "trekking peak." No technical climbing skills are required, making it ideal for first-time 6000m+ climbers. A steep final snow slope is encountered, but it's often non-technical.
The approach to both peaks follows the breathtaking Markha Valley Trek through Hemis National Park before branching off to the respective base camps.
-
Choose Your Challenge: Select between the ultimate test: conquering Kang Yatse 1 (6,400 m), or Kang Yatse 2 (6,250 m) for an exhilarating high-altitude trekking peak experience.
-
Markha Valley Trek: Experience one of Ladakh's most scenic treks through remote villages, ancient gompas (monasteries), and vibrant alpine meadows.
-
Dramatic Landscapes: Witness a transition from verdant river valleys to the high-altitude cold desert of the Nimaling plateau, beneath the mighty Kang Yatse massif.
-
Wildlife Spotting: Explore Hemis National Park, a protected sanctuary home to the elusive snow leopard, along with Himalayan blue sheep (bharal), ibex, and golden eagles.
-
Cultural immersion: Walk through traditional Ladakhi villages like Markha, Skiu, and Hankar, staying in homestays and experiencing local culture.
