Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350 m / 4,428 ft)
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax. In the evening, a brief orientation will be held to prepare for the trek.
Note: Lunch and dinner are not included. A welcome dinner is often provided by the agency.

Day 2: Fly to Lukla (2,860 m / 9,383 ft) & Trek to Phakding (2,610 m / 8,563 ft)
Take a spectacular 35‑minute mountain flight from Kathmandu (or from Manthali/Ramechhap during peak season) to the Tenzing‑Hillary Airport at Lukla. After landing, begin your trek. The path descents gently through scenic farmlands and pine forest, following the Dudh Koshi River, to the small settlement of Phakding.
Trek: 3–4 hours | Flight: 35 minutes

Day 3: Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft)
Cross the river several times on high suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Bridge. The trail gradually ascends through lush pine and rhododendron forests. Towards the end of the day, you get your first glimpse of Mount Everest from a ridge before dropping down into the horseshoe‑shaped town of Namche Bazaar, the vibrant hub of the Khumbu region.
Trek: 5–6 hours

Day 4: Acclimatisation Day in Namche Bazaar
A mandatory rest day to help your body adjust to the higher altitude. To aid acclimatisation, take a short hike to the Everest View Hotel (3,880 m) for outstanding panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. You can also visit the Sherpa Museum, explore the local markets, or simply relax in a cosy teahouse.
Hike: 4–5 hours (optional)

Day 5: Trek Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860 m / 12,664 ft)
The trail contours along the hillside, offering fine views of Everest and Ama Dablam. After a descent to the Dudh Koshi River at Phunki Tenga, a steady climb through rhododendron forest brings you to Tengboche. Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region, and if you are fortunate, you may hear the monks’ evening prayers.
Trek: 5–6 hours

Day 6: Trek Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410 m / 14,469 ft)
Descend through birch and rhododendron forest to the Imja River, then climb gradually through the small villages of Pangboche and Somare. The valley opens up as you approach Dingboche, a sprawling settlement surrounded by stone‑walled fields used for growing potatoes and barley in the short summer season.
Trek: 5–6 hours

Day 7: Acclimatisation Day in Dingboche
Another crucial rest day for high‑altitude adaptation. A recommended acclimatisation hike is the ascent of Nangkartshang Peak (5,083 m) or a walk up the ridge towards Chhukung. These trails offer spectacular close‑up views of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Makalu and Island Peak, while letting your body adjust to the thinning air.
Acclimatisation hike: 4–5 hours

Day 8: Trek Dingboche to Lobuche (4,910 m / 16,109 ft)
The trail climbs steadily through the alpine desert, passing memorial cairns built for climbers who lost their lives on Everest. As you approach the village of Thukla, the route steepens onto a rocky moraine. From the top of the moraine, you can see the Khumbu Glacier spreading out below, with Lobuche village nestled at its edge.
Trek: 5–6 hours

Day 9: Trek Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,140 m / 16,864 ft) & Everest Base Camp (5,364 m / 17,598 ft)
A long and rewarding day. From Lobuche, the trail follows the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep, the last settlement. After a short rest, continue across the glacier’s rocky surface to Everest Base Camp. At Base Camp, surrounded by the towering Khumbu Icefall and prayer flags, you stand at the starting point of all major Everest expeditions. Return to Gorak Shep for the night.
Trek: 7–8 hours total

Day 10: Hike to Kala Patthar (5,545 m / 18,192 ft) & Descend to Pheriche (4,240 m / 13,911 ft)
Begin before dawn for the steep climb up Kala Patthar – the highest point of the trek. From the summit, watch the first sunlight hit Everest’s summit, painting it gold while the surrounding peaks of Nuptse, Pumori, Lingtren and Khumbutse glow in the early morning. After taking in the spectacular panorama, descend back to Gorak Shep for breakfast, then continue down to the valley floor at Pheriche.
Hike: 5–7 hours | Total descent time: 6–8 hours

Day 11: Trek Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft)
A long descent day, retracing your steps through Pangboche and Tengboche, then down through the forests to Phunki Tenga before climbing back up to the trail leading to Namche Bazaar. Though the trek is physically demanding, the air is noticeably richer, and you will feel stronger after days of high‑altitude trekking.
Trek: 7–8 hours

Day 12: Trek Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,860 m / 9,383 ft)
The final day of walking follows the Dudh Koshi River all the way back to Lukla. The trail descents steadily through small villages and across many suspension bridges. Arriving in Lukla, you can celebrate the completion of the trek with your guide and porters. Overnight in a teahouse.
Trek: 7–8 hours

Day 13: Fly Lukla to Kathmandu (1,350 m / 4,428 ft)
Take the morning flight back to Kathmandu (or via Manthali/Ramechhap if required). On arrival, transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to rest, explore Kathmandu’s temples, or shop for souvenirs. A farewell dinner with the trekking team is often arranged in the evening.
Flight: 35 minutes
